NEW YORK, NY—The Exclusive Jewels auction will take place Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 1PM EDT, featuring a curated selection of important estate jewelry and rare signed pieces. The sale will be preceded by the May Exchange, taking place on May 22 at 1PM EDT. Part of Fortuna’s monthly fine jewelry and watches auction series, the Exchange sale offers iconic designer jewels and timepieces, all set at attractive starting bids.
The Exclusive Jewels collection is led by an impressive 10.67-carat D color Internally Flawless Asscher-Cut Diamond Ring, accompanied by a GIA report stating the color and characteristics of the center diamond. Diamonds with such exceptional grade in clarity and color are rarely seen, and are especially hard to find in stones over 10-carats. Borne from inconceivable conditions of extreme temperatures and pressures, natural diamonds of such unrivaled beauty are one of Earth’s greatest creations, and their scarcity has driven their unwavering appreciation in value. It will be offered for an estimated $900,000-$1,200,000.
Also highlighting the May collection is a Cartier Belle Epoque Diamond Velvet Choker. This stunning antiquity is in astonishing condition for its age, and its delicate design perfectly embodies the celebrated style of the French jewelry house during the “Beautiful Era” of late 19th to early 20th century Europe. The Belle Epoque period marks a lighthearted period of peace and prosperity before World War I, in which increasing wealth inspired the flourishing of arts, and jewelry became important in the outward demonstration of status and wealth. Jewelry from this era rarely survived war-torn Europe, truly making this piece a historic treasure. It will be offered this May for an estimated $30,000–$50,000.
In other exquisite period pieces, the sale features a gorgeous Art Deco Jade and Diamond Bracelet, with sapphire and onyx accents, offered for an estimated $22,500–$40,000, and an Art Deco Colombian Emerald and Diamond Drop Earrings, featuring untreated Colombian emeralds weighing a total of 7.52ct. It is estimated to achieve between $100,000–$150,000.
Fortuna’s signature sale will also offer a host of desirable pieces crafted by the celebrated jewelry houses of our time, ranging from iconic Tiffany & Co. Schlumberger Enamel Bracelets, Nardi Blackamoor Brooches, and important Cartier jewelry.

Introducing the Fortuna Exchange
In 2019, Fortuna introduced a new auction offering called the Fortuna Exchange, a monthly sale series featuring fine jewelry and watches from the celebrated makers across all style periods. The Fortuna Exchange was created to provide our sellers greater opportunities per year to sell their assets on a global platform, without the constraints or limitations of consigning their pieces to seasonal sales that are few and far between. With the addition of the monthly Fortuna Exchange sales, alongside our larger signature sales that occur biannually, we are pleased to offer our clients a year that is abundant with rare and exciting fine jewelry and watch offerings.
If you are interested in consigning to the Fortuna Exchange, please note that your jewelry or watch must be submitted at least a month before the date of the sale. For more information on selling at auction, click here.
