NEW YORK, NY—The October Exchange auction will take place Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 3PM EDT, offering a broad range of fine jewelry and timepieces from the world’s most iconic designers and brands.
The Exchange collection is led by a dazzling 2.92-carat Diamond Ring (Lot 1088), offered for an estimate of $45,000–$65,000. The center stone possesses G color and VVS2 clarity, and comes accompanied with a GIA report confirming its characteristics.
The sale also features an abundance of antique diamond jewelry—ranging from the Victorian to Art Deco eras. Most notably, an Antique Large Old Cushion-Cut Diamond Star Pendant (Lot 1049) will be offered with an estimate of $30,000–$40,000. Star designs were heavily utilized motifs in all forms of European jewelry during the Mid-Victorian Grand Period (1860-1885), and were often featured in pendant designs that accompanied large necklaces. For an added flair of history, the finely crafted diamond star pendant comes accompanied with an antique velvet fitted box—most likely from the Manchester-based retail establishment where it was first purchased. Other stunning antique pieces offered include an Art Deco Diamond Bracelet, French (Lot 1047), with an estimate of $10,000–$15,000, and an important set of Antique Diamond Brooch/Earrings, French (Lot 1046), with an estimate of $15,000–$20,000.
In designer jewelry highlights, the October Exchange collection will offer gorgeous, chic designs by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, David Webb and more. The sale features a Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra Malachite and Diamond Earrings (Lot 1069), for an estimated $8,000–$10,000. The deep forest green of the malachite against the yellow gold setting are perfect fall colors for the season. One of the most iconic designs to exist since the late 1960s, the Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra motif has been popularized by influential clientele like the Princess Grace of Monaco, the French actress Romy Schneider, and countless others. Also offered in the sale is an expertly crafted Van Cleef & Arpels Turquoise and Diamond Necklace (Lot 1038), with an estimate of $10,000–$15,000, and a David Webb Diamond and Chevron Enamel Ring (Lot 1019), with an estimate of $8,000–$12,000.
The auction catalog is now online and available for pre-sale bidding. For inquiries related to the sale, please refer to the contact information above and our staff would be more than happy to assist you.
Introducing the Fortuna Exchange
In 2019, Fortuna introduced a new auction offering called the Fortuna Exchange, a monthly sale series featuring fine jewelry and watches from the celebrated makers across all style periods. The Fortuna Exchange was created to provide our sellers greater opportunities per year to sell their assets on a global platform, without the constraints or limitations of consigning their pieces to seasonal sales that are few and far between. With the addition of the monthly Fortuna Exchange sales, alongside our larger signature sales that occur biannually, we are pleased to offer our clients a year that is abundant with rare and exciting fine jewelry and watch offerings.
If you are interested in consigning to the Fortuna Exchange, please note that your jewelry or watch must be submitted at least a month before the date of the sale. For more information on selling at auction, click here.
