  • Fine Jewelry & Watch auction on March 14, 2019 at 1PM EDT.
  • Iconic jewelry and watches by the world’s most respected designers and brands, such as Cartier, Buccellati, Tiffany & Co., Rolex and more.
  • Featured Lot Shown: An Art Deco Cartier Rock Crystal and Diamond Brooch. Achieved $15,000 at auction, dwarfing a starting bid of $3,000.

NEW YORK, NY—The second installment of the Fortuna Exchange series took place on March 14, 2019 at 1PM EDT, offering a large assortment of iconic fine jewelry and timepieces.

In jewelry highlights, Fortuna’s March sale featured a fine selection of unique period pieces. Avid Cartier collectors found Lot 103, an Art Deco Cartier Rock Crystal and Diamond Brooch, particularly desirable. The piece exhibits perfect symmetry in the quintessential Art Deco fashion, and the contrast between the use of rock crystal and dark enamel accents gives the brooch both a soft elegance and a bold silhouette. Offered at a very attractive starting bid of $3,000, the piece achieved a final price of $15,000 at auction. Also featured in the sale was a vintage set of a Cartier cigarette holder and case (Lots 61 and 62), both in remarkable condition for their age. They hammered for $4,250 and $5,000, respectively, both exceeding their pre-sale estimates.

This March, an exciting selection of vintage and contemporary watches was also available for bidding. Leading the watch highlights was a Patek Philippe Ref. 5085/1A Neptune Power Reserve Moonphase in Steel (Lot 1027). It came complete with original box, papers and an extra link, and sold for $12,500 at auction. In vintage watches, a circa 1979 Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 (Lot 1022) also achieved $12,500 at auction, featuring a particularly well-kept dial with luminous material on the hands and indices that have aged into a lovely cream color—giving it the classic warm appearance of a vintage Rolex.

Introducing the Fortuna Exchange

In 2019, Fortuna introduced a new auction offering called the Fortuna Exchange, a monthly sale series featuring fine jewelry and watches from the celebrated makers across all style periods. The Fortuna Exchange was created to provide our sellers greater opportunities per year to sell their assets on a global platform, without the constraints or limitations of consigning their pieces to seasonal sales that are few and far between. With the addition of the monthly Fortuna Exchange sales, alongside our larger signature sales that occur biannually, we are pleased to offer our clients a year that is abundant with rare and exciting fine jewelry and watch offerings.

If you are interested in consigning to the Fortuna Exchange, please note that your jewelry or watch must be submitted at least a month before the date of the sale. For more information on selling at auction, click here.

We Invite You to Auction!
