NEW YORK, NY—The Important Jewels auction took place Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 12PM EST, offering a curated selection of important estate jewelry and rare signed pieces.

The Important Jewels collection was led by a spectacular pair of Harry Winston Diamond Earrings, which achieved $287,500 at auction. These exquisite vintage jewels from 1957 feature pear-shaped and marquise diamonds set with minimal metal. The stunning colorless diamonds boast VS2 to VVS1 clarity, and comes accompanied by a Harry Winston Box, Harry Winston letter, and a GIA report confirming its characteristics. The diamonds are angled toward one another in an unmistakable Harry Winston design. The famous American jeweler was known as the King of Diamonds, and these dazzling earrings are a true testament to his legacy.

But the piece that commanded the most bidder attention online, over the phones and on the bidding floor was a gorgeous Tiffany & Co. Art Deco Diamond and Emerald Bracelet. Property of an Arkansas lady, this masterfully crafted piece features French-cut diamonds, weighing a total of approximately 22.50 carats, and enhanced by caliber-cut emeralds. It achieved $68,750 at auction, surpassing its estimate of $35,000–$50,000.

The sale also featured other designer names, including a Buccellati Diamond Wide Cuff, which achieved $30,000 at auction, and a Tiffany & Co. 2.26-carat Emerald-Cut Diamond Ring, which sold for $13,750. Of the important colored stones offered in the sale, an impressive 30.64-carat Sapphire and Diamond Ring, property of an estate, sold for $22,500 at auction, and a 5.98-carat Fancy Light Yellow Pear-Shaped Diamond Ring, also property of an estate, achieved $21,250 at auction against a pre-sale estimate of $15,000–$25,000.

Introducing the Fortuna Exchange

In 2019, Fortuna introduced a new auction offering called the Fortuna Exchange, a monthly sale series featuring fine jewelry and watches from the celebrated makers across all style periods. The Fortuna Exchange was created to provide our sellers greater opportunities per year to sell their assets on a global platform, without the constraints or limitations of consigning their pieces to seasonal sales that are few and far between. With the addition of the monthly Fortuna Exchange sales, alongside our larger signature sales that occur biannually, we are pleased to offer our clients a year that is abundant with rare and exciting fine jewelry and watch offerings.

If you are interested in consigning to the Fortuna Exchange, please note that your jewelry or watch must be submitted at least a month before the date of the sale. For more information on selling at auction, click here.

We Invite You to Auction!
